It's been a while since I've written in my journal. Here's
what I've been up to since last time...
I had a callback for the MARY POPPINS tour on Thursday.
They called me in to sing, and possibly dance later in the day. So I
went in to the singing audition in the morning and sang my 16 bars. I
was pretty happy with how I sang, but was really disappointed when he
didn't ask me to come back to dance that afternoon. So as far as I can
tell, I'm out of the running for the tour, which I'm so bummed about.
I'd been waiting for this tour audition for a year so I'm really disappointed
that it didn't go better, but I'll just keep working and go back in the
next time they have an audition. But for now, there must be something
else in the cards for me.
On Friday, a few of my friends and I did a taping for the
Food Network. They're doing a show on the effect of ginger to prevent
nausea. They were taking this guy around the city to see what things
make him the dizziest. So they taped him doing pirouettes and pique turns
with us. It was fun, but I haven't done that many pique turns in a long
time! LOL So be on the lookout for the ginger episode on the Food Network
in July.
Saturday was my roommate Roy's birthday, so we spent the
day celebrating. We went to a street fair in Times Square and ate all
kinds of fried goodness. Then we went to a movie and then got drinks
afterwards. That night we had a few people over to the apartment for
game night. Billy and I cooked a lot of food... mac n cheese, crab dip,
pizza, queso, ice cream cake. It was delicious! We played Mailman and
Catch Phrase. It was a lot of fun! Happy Birthday Roy!

I'm excited for this weekend. I'm headed home to go to
a friend's wedding and to visit my Dad for Father's Day. I'm going to
watch BIlly's show in Philly tonight and the Tony Awards are Sunday.
Should be a very fun weekend!
I had a couple auditions this week. On Tuesday, I auditioned
for OKLAHOMA! at the Fulton Theatre. Tyce Diorio (from "So You Think
You Can Dance") is choreographing the show. It was fun to learn
a couple combos from him and dance for him, after seeing him on TV so
many times. We first did a ballet combo, and then after they made a cut,
we sang an 8-bar cut of a song. And after another cut, we did a jazz
combination. It was definitely an unconventional take on the classic
show, but fun to do. I didn't get asked to come back to the callback,
but had fun nonetheless.
On Wednesday, I went to the audition for MARY POPPINS.
We started with a tap combination. He quickly taught the short combo
and then we did it 2 at a time. I felt okay about my performance but
thought I didn't act it as well I could have. So I was so happy when
they asked me to come back and do the ballet combo next. So we then learned
the "Jolly Holiday" combination, and performed in 3 at a time.
I was in the first group and was happy about how it went. They asked
me to stay and learn the character combination next, which was to "Supercali...".
It's so much fun! And as we were performing the combination, it just
kept getting faster and faster. It was at warp speed by the time we auditioned...so
much fun! After doing the character combo, we got the chance to tap again.
I was happy for the opportunity to do it again, and was happier with
my acting the second time around. We didn't sing that day, but I got
a call the next day inviting me to a callback next week. So I'm excited
about that!
Anybody who knows me well can tell you that I'm a politics
junky! So I was so sad to hear of Tim Russert's passing. I watched him
on "Meet the Press" every Sunday morning, and learned so much
from him on MSNBC. I will definitely miss his political insights. My
prayers are with his family.

I just got back from seeing my roomie, Chippers, in BRIGADOON
at the Fulton Theatre. Six of us rented a car and drove down to Pennsylvania.
We left yesterday morning and hit the road on the 3 trip. We met up with
Chip and Ben and visited for a while, and then we went to dinner before
heading out to the show. We had box seats in the back and we able to
see everything. We were so proud of Chip, and the whole show was beautiful!
We went to the opening night party afterwards. I got to see a lot of
friends that I haven't seen in some time. I got to talk with Paul, Erica,
Lisa, Ken, Tucker, and Marc. I had a great time. After that, we walked
back to the apartments and played Catch Phrase until 3am. It was a lot
of fun! I want to thank Chip and Ryan for a great couple days!
And I want to congratulation Nick Drago on doing a killer
job on "Step it Up and Dance" on Bravo. We went to school together
and I thought that he represented OCU so well and did us all proud.
