It's Tuesday, the day we've been waiting for ... our day off! LOL I'm catching up on sleep and catching up on some website work. I've been keeping busy and loving it! We closed JOSEPH on Sunday. That week just flew by. We were so busy with performances and rehearsals. It was sad to say goodbye to the JOSEPH cast. Our show was finally settling and we were all getting into the groove of things... just in time for closing night. But that's the way it works in summer stock. Very fast paced and excited. It was sad to say goodbye to people. I had so many great friends (old and new) who were only here for the one show. So I'm sending my love to you guys, and wish you all the best on your new adventures!
Yesterday (the day after we closed JOSEPH) we had our designer run of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. It was the first time we had run the show all the way though, and it was nice to see how everything we've been working on all fits together. The show is really fun and our leads are just hilarious! We move into the theatre tomorrow and start adding a few tech elements each day. It came so far in yesterday's rehearsal day alone, so I know everything will come together as we go through the process this week.
I've added some more JOSEPH pics to the Performance Photos section...some from my friends and some from the Music Circus official photographer, Charr Crail. So check those out!
I want to thank Lou for his kind e-mail the other day. Thank you so much for coming to the show and supporting us!
And I'd like to send some love and congratulations out to my friends opening in OKLAHOMA! here at the Music Circus tonight, and to the cast of ANNIE out at North Carolina Theatre. They've gotten so much press (story on the Today Show & lots of national coverage). I'm so happy for you guys and wish I could see it! Also sending love to the SAIGON peeps spending their last week in Toronto. I have so many talented friends sharing their gifts all over this continent! Love you all!

Well, JOSEPH is officially open! We had our Opening Night on Tuesday; unfortunately, we were one man down. The night before, after our dress rehearsal, we were running through a few things. We started with the Megamix and 8 counts into the number, Mahri went down. She sprained her ankle and had to be taken to the emergency room. We found out the next day that she was on crutches and was taken out of the show (and the next one). It was so sad not to have her on stage with us! But as they say, "The show must go on" so we reblocked to make due without her. I couple parts of my show changed (I now sit out half of "One More Angel" but that's actually kinda nice to have a breather). And once Opening Night was upon us, we were all ready to go. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the audience was laughing and clapping along. We couldn't have asked for a better response. Check out the video that the theatre put out...
We've now started our "double duty" schedule. We're rehearsing the next show (DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS) during the day and performing JOSEPH at night. We're on our second day of that schedule and I'm already tired! We had 5 hours of rehearsal yesterday before our show, and today we had 2 hours and then 2 shows. It's a lot but luckily we only do this schedule for a week. BUT we have a designer run-thru of DIRTY ROTTEN on Monday, which means we have to learn the whole show while we're still running JOSEPH. It's a little stressful for everyone trying to make it work but it'll happen. This place is like a well-oiled machine. Music Circus knows how to turn out great shows at lightning speed. I'm having a great time and am so thankful to be here!

We have our invited dress rehearsal tonight! And I think we're adding a couple new elements tonight as well... We haven't heard the orchestra yet and haven't run the show in full tech yet, so it should be fun and interesting this evening. And then tomorrow night is our official Opening Night. Today is our Daylight Day of Rest, which means that we have the day off and don't have to go in until 7:00 tonight. Richard, our director, encouraged us to get a little sun, so as the devoted actor that I am, I did as I was told and spent a couple hours relaxing by the pool soaking in the rays. (But in an effort to make sure I didn't turn red as a lobster, I applied sunscreen 3 times, so who knows if I got any color, but I sure tried!)
Check out the Photo section of my website. I've just added some JOSEPH pictures, and also added a few more CINDERELLA and PIAZZA photos as well. And in the upcoming weeks, I'll try to add some more.
We start rehearsals for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS on Wednesday. The leads arrived today and had a Meet & Greet and started music rehearsals. But since it's our Daylight Day of Rest, we weren't called to rehearsal. But in a couple days, we'll start our schedule of double-duty, where we rehearse one show during the day and perform the other at night. It's been a long time since I've done this schedule, so that should be interesting! I'll definitely keep you updated!
I just wanted to give a quick shout-out to Colby and all my friends who just closed FIDDLER at the Walnut Street Theatre. Congrats on a successful run and a great production!

I'm now in Sacramento rehearsing for JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT. I got here a week ago and what a busy week it's been. We started rehearsals on Friday, learning music and staging the beginning of the show. We moved into the theatre on Monday. (And it's a whole different ballgame in the round. It takes a while to get used to which aisle to enter and exit.) We learned the entire show by Tuesday and had our first run-thru for the design team. The show is a lot of fun. I'm amazed by how much material is crammed into such a short show! Luckily I remembered a lot of the lyrics from when I did the show at my church when I was younger. It's amazing how those things stick with you. But I'm having a great time! I'm loving the cast and everybody here is so wonderful! I'm so grateful to be here!
The first show of the Music Circus season is SPAMALOT. I got the chance to see it last night and it is hilarious! I really loved the production. I never got a chance to see the show on Broadway so it was fun to see it with fresh eyes. I laughed non-stop! The show is getting rave reviews. Congrats Glenn & Billy!

I hope everybody had a great 4th of July! I had a pretty low-key Independence Day. Went to the movies, walked around the city, watched some fireworks from the balcony of my apartment. It was a nice relaxing day!
I've enjoyed a lot of theatre lately! I recently got to see SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM. It was the closing performance on Broadway so everyone in the cast was emotional and giving it their all. The show was stopped cold, not once, not twice, but three times by the roaring applause of audience. It was pretty great! I'm fairly new to the Sondheim fan club so I was loving all of the interviews, stories, songs. It was really interesting and brilliantly presented. I really enjoyed it! And last week, to continue on with the Sondheim theme, I got to see SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE at the Arden in Philadelphia. I had never seen the show before and really enjoyed the production. Jeff did an amazing job. I did PETER PAN iwth him at the Walnut and it was so fun to see him perform again! And then the next day I watched FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the Walnut Theatre. I saw it a few weeks ago, but this time I watched it with Billy and Colleen. We were in the very last row of the theatre, so we got a good view of the whole overall picture. It was fun to see it from a different angle. I hardly got to see my sister while I was down in Philly, but did get to hang out with Colby, Mike, Colleen, Joey, Steve. It was a fun trip!
I'm getting ready to head out to Sacramento later this week. I'm getting excited! Until then, stay cool in the summer heat!
